Randall Love has shot over 300 hours of prime time documentary and dramatic television for the Major Networks, Discovery, BBC, TLC, Granada, ZDF and other European Networks. His work has won over 125 International Awards, and he has shot the highest rated shows for both National Geographic and Nova. He recently shot "Moments in Time", a series for Discovery shot in HD 24p. This series of historical recreations was lensed in Europe and Morocco. Randall approached this 6 month project with the lighting concept of filming primarily with illumination that was available during the 600 year time span of the show. An executive producer for Discovery commented that this was the best looking footage ever shot for their channel.

Early in his career, Randall worked as a camera assistant for some of the best names in show business. He has worked on several films with George Lucas, and learned much about the craft of lighting from working with Caleb Deschanel, Director of Photography (The Natural, The Right Stuff) He learned his documentary style from David Myers (Woodstock) and Albert Maysles (Gimme Shelter). At the age of 23, Randall was the youngest First Camera Assistant in the history of the prestigious International Cinematographers Guild in Hollywood.

Randall has a unique background as a Director of Photography. Unlike many traditional Hollywood D.P.'s, he works in all of the film genres - documentary, dramatic and commercial. Randall's skills cross over from one genre to another. In documentary, he is especially talented at lighting and hand held camerawork. In feature film and television dramatic work, he uses his documentary skills to work quickly.

He honed his lighting skills while shooting for several years for the hit TV show Unsolved Mysteries - - which is a blend of dramatic and documentary formats. Recently, Randall has been 2nd unit Director of Photography on the hit CBS series shot in San Francisco: Nash Bridges starring Don Johnson. He also shot the first docu/drama for the Discovery Channel : "What If..." Randall also shot a romantic comedy feature film for Miramax: Little City starring Josh Charles, Annabella Sciorra. Jon Bon Jovi and Penelope Anne Miller.

Randall has shot over 100 corporate videos and films for clients such as Microsoft, Intel, Cisco Systems, United Airlines, DHL, FMC, Yahoo, Levis, Apple, Visa, Compaq, Disney, etc.

He has also shot over 400 commercials including Bank of America, Inglenook Wines, Fox , ABC Chevrolet, Dodge, Safeway, K-Mart, Crest, Fox Television, ABC Network, Kikkoman, Roman Meal, Cost Plus, and many others.

He shoots both film and tape and has shot in virtually all tape formats including HD 24p, PAL, NTSC, Digital Betacam, Beta SP and DVCam.

In addition to his cinematography, Randall has authored over half a dozen articles on current film and video techniques in the prestigious American Cinematographer and International Photographer magazines. He earned a B.A. degree in Communications from the University of California Berkeley and graduated Magna Cum Laude. His cinematography has garnered over 125 national and international awards. He currently resides in Marin County, California. His office is just several miles away from George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch and his special effects mecca: Industrial Light and Magic.
